A daring robbery took place in Dum Dum Municipality’s Ward No. 7 on Nalta School Badi Road, when a gang of seven robbers broke into a house in the early hours of the morning. The criminals entered the premises around 2:06 AM, carrying bags and wearing helmets to conceal their identities. They broke the window of a ground-floor rented room, climbed to the second floor, and began their attack.
The victims, 75-year-old Putul Majumdar, who has been bedridden for eight years due to paralysis, and her husband Shankar Majumdar, were subjected to a terrifying ordeal. The robbers threatened them, covering Putul's mouth, and stole all her jewelry, including her nose and finger rings. The attack was particularly brutal due to the victim’s physical condition, and the robbers showed no mercy. The first-floor rented room was unoccupied, which gave the criminals an opportunity to focus solely on the second-floor residents.
CCTV footage from nearby security cameras shows the seven robbers entering the house, with some wearing helmets and covering their faces to avoid identification. Investigators are now reviewing the footage to track down the perpetrators. The authorities are working swiftly to identify the criminals and bring them to justice, urging local residents to stay vigilant.
